Every song grows from deep roots. Here you'll find the origin, the journey, and the soul of the Skillgates.
In the early 2000s, in Rome, guitarist and singer Edo, along with Max on drums, formed E.D.O. (Electric Digital Orchestra).
Their official debut came in 2004 with the single "Monkey in the Jungle," released under Universal Publishing Italy. The music video for the song was directed by Rai director and writer F. Maiorino. This single quickly brought them into the spotlight, leading to a series of promotional performances on Italian stages.
In 2006, E.D.O. released their first album, with the lead single "I Still Meet You" achieving considerable success on Radio Rai 2. That same year, their second single, "Superstar," became a hit on IsoRadio, further cementing the band’s popularity.
E.D.O. performed on major stages across Italy, including the Alcatraz in Milan, and participated in events like Handicap Day by Radio Rai 2 in Piazza del Popolo in Rome, Telethon Rome, and more.
After the success of their first album, the band evolved into a power trio.
In 2012, they released their second album, "Livin' Under The Sun," under the Y-Records label. The music video for "Livin' Under The Sun" was also noteworthy. The album was launched with an acoustic concert in London, followed by a series of dates in Italy.
After a few years of hiatus, Edo and Max, together with new bassist Mike, reinvented themselves with a new musical project: The Skillgates.
In 2023, they released their first single, "Punkdemic Rock," with a fully underground-style video, marking a stylistic renewal and a change of identity: the members now go by the names Ed Gates, Mich Gates, and Max Gates. The band’s name remains shrouded in mystery, a secret the three musicians choose not to reveal.
